it happens once a year, a business works through the whole year to get to this time of the season. ever heard of “closed for the season”. the most common phrase that is used by business owners to tell you they are not working during the holiday season. this is understandable considering family is the most important thing but also taking this time to rest is super important as well.
camp ape is still open, in fact right now i am working on the next objective for camp ape. this is not a flaunt or hey! hey! look at me and what i am doing. it is more so why can’t you work on your next objective? i think at times, maybe just take a breath, but then again how simple is it to think. thinking and toying with the next idea can help with next year’s prospects, return on investments, where to spend, where to push, etc.
TAKE THE TIME
just like the next guy, i do enjoy my time off. i got a family and way too many projects around the house that i want to do. i love to grill, love playing with my kids, love spending time with my wife and diving deep into my bible. we need rest, its necessary to recharge and refuel for the next hour, day, week, or month. so where is my but…there isn’t in this section BUT you can find out what i am getting to next down below. P.S. keep reading.
THE TIME IS NOW
while you are cooking turkeys, wrapping presents, playing with kids, kissing spouses —-- maybe think of what is next for you. think of this as an early christmas present from the new year. its easy to just think about it once the new year starts, but if you don’t start thinking of ideas and plans now, your business may be ready to head down a slope in quarter one and wouldn’t you rather be ready to rock ‘n’ roll first thing in january vs waiting around until march to begin. for me, its taking the down time i have over the holiday time to reflect on what's working and what isn’t working and seeing how can i improve next year. my goal by january first is to run wild and go in guns blazing.
WHATS THE THINKING BEHIND IT?
for me, i’ve realized that theres six steps to thinking about your business during the holiday season that help lead into the new year with a plan.
strategic goals
-creating plans ahead of time can help take away from the “in the moment” situations where stress levels may be high and tensions may be at a greater risk within the business 6 months from now.
quarter achievements
-take your time. you don’t need to rush to the races but you do need to figure out what you are going to achieve in quarter one. when you get a head start on what quarter one looks like everything will look a little clearer as far as your strategic goals and checkmarks you mark off.
delegation and dedication
-start thinking about what you want to delegate out. delegate out to your employees to make the work lighter or delegate tasks for the next quarter/later in the year. doing this allows you to breathe and create dedicated time to a certain task more. which will allow for higher qualities and quantities to be achieved during the new year.
executing importance
-first thing is first, look at the minor objectives you want to do in quarter one and then make a list of what you want to execute the rest of the year with those major objectives. when you create a list of importance it allows for you to fill your time with things that you can worry about later and focus on now. looking at quarter one, are there any major objectives you can think of starting in january while you eat your turkey and mashed potatoes?
marketing the purpose
-during the holidays, i have many prospects saying to me that they don’t need anything in quarter four of the current year. this is mostly an excuse to save money during the holiday season or to just avoid thinking about business during the holidays altogether. i don’t blame them but you do have to think ahead. last minute rebrands, events, promotions, sales, all those things are extremely important and a client of yours will notice when it’s last minute. most people will go into the new year feeling rejuvenated and fresh about their goals so why shouldn’t you if they are invested into your business? most all businesses within quarter one and quarter two look exactly the same as the previous year(s) and it shows. it’s not anything new, it’s old news. the same promo you did last year has no new marketing behind it. think about your audience for the next year if you want to bring more revenue to your business for the upcoming new year. do not stay with the same stuff that worked the previous year. reinvent the wheel.
rewards and revenues
-if you think about the new year, you’ll start to think about the reward. like any big project that comes through the door of a business it’s all about how can we put food on the table. if it’s a good investment for the business mostly it will be good for your wallet.
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE SEASON
camp ape is a creative design studio. how can we help with your “winter break”? simple, we will first walk through some ways to define your target audience for next year. i do understand that you may already have one in place. next year always brings new challenges. there is always an audience from the previous year in place, but the new year may see some newer faces you weren’t expecting. next, camp ape will help in directing you towards setting up goals that can be easily achievable in the new year. what are you marketing? is it a refresh on your business, a product or promotion that needs to be broadcasted, etc. camp ape can help in this area as we know how to best achieve these schemes and tasks. last year’s tasks will be different than the next year’s as what appealed in 2024 may not appeal in 2025. some objectives from marketing can carry over but if you give your audience a fresh view on a new flyer design than it may perform better which means that your revenue generates.
